| Installed without problem on Vista operating system. Wonderfull product that with a click of a button will backup files. This will enable you to share or view files on any PC anywhere in the world. Quite like the idea and this can be usefull, and its backed up! Would highly recomend this product. | | An excellent product....: Rating: 5/5 |
...because it does exactly what it says on the box. It backs up your information, an unlimited amount of it, either automatically or manually, and lets you not even have to worry about it. It just works. Now as a Mac user, that is perhaps what you would expect, but this also works flawlesly on Vista. Any backup has to work every time without fail, and this certainly appears to (check other Amazon reviews). The price may appear high but it's close to other products that offer a similar service and is about half that of a decent size backup disk drive. And of course, this is an unlimited storage capacity. my advice is to use this service as a secondary backup; to backup your backup drive. This should give complete peace of mind, as the chances of all three drives (your internal HDD, external HDD backup, remote F-Secure drivespace) all corrupting at the same time is essentially zero.
It does what it says and it does it without getting in the way, therefore it gets 5 stars. | | Great online backup tool.: Rating: 4/5 |
This tool I guess is more for people who want the safety of recovering there important files, docs, pictures, mpegs etc to an online site, where they know the data can be kept safe and be restored easily.
Some people will argue that having an external storage is cheap and hassle free. but we all know someone (including ourselves) whereby the external storage has failed them. this would mean either getting hold of an external company to try and rescue your precious data.
This software is simple in that you sign up and then for a year you can upload all your sensitive/important data to F-Secure servers. The nice thing about this is you can then recover your data over the newtwork. F-Secure would guaranteee this data and protect it. In all honesty companies such s these have large servers on SAN with RAID and they constantly migrate data to the latest storage technology. So, I guess our files are safe.
One thing has been mentioned is the interface and to be honest it's nothing great to look at, but in all honesty you just want to backup the data on your disk in the background, so it's of no real concern.
Yes, a external usb/firwire or esata HDD drive will backup large chunks of data much quickly than over the internet. But, then again no company who sells the extranl storage drives guarantees that they will recover your data if the drive fails. This is something you have to pay for yourself.
Also, you have to remember that you get unlimited storage allowance, so for that price you do get allot. Only downside is that you need to pay every year to renew your license, but with storage prices coming down I expect the license fee will drop as well.
if you have a slow connection then as with anything it will be painfully slow. I have good upload speed, so things were pretty quick for me. I managed to get a couple of gb in 30min.
Forget the interface issues etc and you have a competent online backup tool and your data is guaranteed recoverable, with no hassle of whether you need to buy external storage. | | Does what it says.: Rating: 4/5 |
This is simple. You install it, sign up, choose what to backup (or let it use the default settings) and the program will sit in the background uploading all your selected files to a remote server. The upload program works in the background and you can specify the upload speed to prevent it using up all your bandwidth.
The main downside, as with all online backup schemes, is that it may take a long time to back everything up if your files are large (photos, music), by which time you may have new files or modified existing files. You could feasibly run the software all the time to upload any changed or new files, but that's not always practical.
There's no offline backup to disc or anything, so make sure online is what you want. | | Already reviewed: Rating: 1/5 |
This is not a recommended product. It's slow on my Intel iMac and has too few options for what, and in what order uploads are handled.
The weekly report is badly formatted. Not worth the money | |
